3.1 Choosing Activities (Start Here)

Guide

Before selecting an activity, consider:

  • Who is participating? (individuals, small group, church, students)
  • Is this a first-time CCC group or a more experienced one?
  • How much time do we have?
  • Do we have the capacity to facilitate emotional processing?
  • Will we be staying in one location, or is travel feasible?
  • What level of discomfort is appropriate for your group? Use the guidance below to choose intentionally.

Recommended Starting Points

  • First-time CCC participants
→ Start with Prayer Walk or Mapping Your City
  • Groups ready for interaction
→ Add Visiting a Place of Worship or United Nations Cocktail Party
  • Facilitated, prepared environments
→ Consider Refugee Loss Simulation One meaningful experience is better than many rushed ones.

You can think of the activities in three categories:

  • Low barrier (observation-based)
  • Moderate engagement (interaction-based)
  • High impact (emotionally immersive) Choose accordingly.
